A antique or vintage Shop Counter display cabinet, used in a haberdashers to display Clark's embroidery cotton. It is made of Oak, with a hinge mounted glass top, marked in gold with Clark's "Anchor" Trade mark. It has a cantilever mechanism, fitted to each side, which are both marked with Patent No 300315. It is marked in gold on its front - CLARK'S "ANCHOR" STRANDED COTTON FOR EMBROIDERY.
It has four trays and bottom drawer, divided by pull out panels into 54 separate compartments, measuring 1 3/4" or 6.5 cm wide x 7" or 178 mm long. It measures 22 3/8" or 57 cm wide x 6 1/2" or 16.5 cm high x 8 1/2" or 20.5 cm deep when closed, opening to 26" or 66 cm deep. It has a great colour and grain patterns and displays beautifully. It dates to early 20th century and is in a good original condition, with minor signs of use, as shown in photo's.
